Job Location

The position is predominantly office based at either of two Loop Technology locations:

Loop Technology Dorchester, Dorset, DT1 3EW

Or

Loop Technology Sheffield, Catcliffe, Rotherham, S60 5GP

The position will require occasional customer site work and supplier visits that can extend to overnight stays and international travel.

Summary of Job Function

A Project Engineer, as the project owner, is responsible for the commercial, technical, and operational aspects of project delivery. Leading a cross functional team to develop and deliver highly complex robot based electromechanical systems for use in factory and process automation.

Role Responsibilities

Departmental

Work with all members of the Projects department to continually improve Loop’s ability to deliver projects. Work to ensure that Loop Technology has a consistent approach to project delivery, both internally and externally.

Act as an ambassador for the Projects Department and promote and advocate for the department in a professional manner when carrying out the responsibilities and duties of the position, complying with both the spirit and stated intent of all company and departmental policies and procedures.

Support the Project Engineering Manager in carrying out their responsibilities and duties when requested.

Generation and management of all project reporting documentation in accordance with Loop Technology’s project management process for projects to which assigned.

Introduce best practice, processes and procedures to ensure that the department works effectively and efficiently.

Functional

Be self-directing following the Loop Technology Project Management process, working with the department leads and the project teams to ensure successful completion of assigned projects.

Support the sales engineering team in the development and preparation of project proposals.

Work with the sales team to ensure project scope is understood.

Act as the technical and commercial lead forming the link between the customer and project team.

Host and/or attend project related meetings with the Customers, suppliers and project partners as required.

Monitor and guide project progress to ensure commercial design and technical project milestones and deliverables are achieved.

Work with the project team, customers and suppliers to ensure that proposed designs meet project requirements.

Manage project budgets, timelines and quality ensuring systems are delivered and installed to customer and Loop Technology’s satisfaction.

Prepare project updates / reports to Loop Technology’s management as required in accordance with the Loop Technology Project Management Process.

Cooperate and collaborate with cross-functional teams ensuring excellent communication throughout.

Work with the Finance and Personnel departments as required to ensure good management of company resources and personnel.

Duties

  • Present Loop Technology to the customer, suppliers and project partners, retaining a high level of professionalism at all times.
  • Deliver projects on time, to budget, and at the right quality.
  • Lead the project team to ensure tasks are completed effectively and efficiently and within agreed timeframes.
  • Prepare, maintain, and present project materials in accordance with Loop Technology’s project management process.

Technical Understanding

A good knowledge of a broad range of engineering subjects is required. Any of the following would be desirable:

  • Pneumatic actuation and controls
  • Motor & drive mechanism selection (stepper, AC & DC servos, gear reducers and belt drives)

  • Motion Control
  • Process Simulation
  • Industrial Robots
  • 2D and 3D machine vision systems

Skills

  • Proven ability to manage own time and quickly identify and manage priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities and proven ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional project environment.
  • First-rate communication skills and the ability to form strong relationships both internals and externally.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills (working language is English).
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Proficiency with SharePoint would be an advantage.
  • Competent in the use of various video conferencing systems.
  • Competent in organising and running project meetings both internally and with high level customer representatives.

Qualifications

  • Degree in an Engineering related subject, or equivalent certification, training, and experience

Experience

  • A minimum of three (3) years in a Project Engineering / Management role.
