Electrical Design Engineer
Location: Dorchester, Dorset

We are seeking an Electrical Design / Automation Engineer to join our engineering team in Dorchester. You should be enthusiastic and comfortable when designing electrical control systems for complex machinery.

You will need to possess the following skills and experience:

  • A good HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • An excellent track record of designing control systems for advanced process machinery preferably using Eplan Electric P8 design software.
  • Your experience should include Control Panel, Motion Control System, Robotic, Machine Vision and Safety System design to current European legeslative standards.
  • A thorough understanding of controlling and preventing EMC related issues.
  • Be able to demonstrate the specification/design/integration of safety components (Estops, safety gate control, light curtains) within robot automation cells.
  • Be familiar with various networking systems such as Ethernet, ProfiNet, Profibus, CANOpen, DeviceNET.
  • Be able to fault find complex control systems both onsite and at the customers facilities.
  • Be able to work without supervision within a multidiscipline team of engineers to achieve system design requirements.
  • Be organised and able to support the build and installation process of new systems both onsite and also offsite at the customers facility.

Mechanical Design Engineers
Location: Dorchester, Dorset
Job Type:

We are seeking Mechanical Design Engineers to report to our Mechanical Engineering Manager and work within project teams to develop and analyse subsystems and assemblies as required for the company’s projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Create, draft and design product layouts and schemes using customer specification and recommendations.

Key Requirements:

  • Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent training.
  • Good understanding of workshop practices and material capabilities.
  • Completion of a recognised apprenticeship would be seen as an advantage.

Main Duties:

  • Work within project teams to agree and maintain mechanical interfaces and design requirements.
  • Assess feasibility of proposed designs by evaluating concepts.
  • Support system testing.
  • 3D CAD design of the assembly and related 2D drawings.
  • Support Senior Mechanical engineers, Leading Mechanical Engineers, Project Team members and Project Engineer.
  • Work with other engineering disciplines within the company and within a project to meet system requirements.
  • Review product designs created by other Mechanical Design Engineers.

Knowledge:

  • Essential: Experience in creating and maintaining CAD models and files.
  • Essential: Ability to create and interpret engineering drawings.

Qualifications:

  • Essential: Degree in Mechanical Engineering Design or equivalent experience.

Skills:

  • Essential: Being able to create CAD models and evaluate design options to support ongoing design work, as well as being able to advice engineers about ways to improve designs where required Essential: Good written and oral communication skills (working language is English).
  • Essential: Proficiency with common computer operating systems and the use of MS Office applications.
  • Desirable: Proficiency in the use of Solidworks software, ideally with several years of experience.

Aptitude:

  • Essential: Good interpersonal abilities and proven capability to work collaboratively.
  • Essential: A positive outlook and a “can do” attitude.
  • Desirable: Proven record of ability to manage time and work to deadlines.

Previous Experience:

  • Essential: Mechanical design experience and proven track record of manufactured designs.
  • Desirable: at least 2 years of experience working in the Special Purpose Machinery industry.

Software Engineers

Location: Dorchester, Dorset
Job Type: Permanent

Due to an increase in our workload we are seeking Senior Software Engineers who enjoy the challenges of working with automated machinery.

You should be enthusiastic, demonstrate initiative and be undaunted by complex systems.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • A good science, engineering or maths based Degree.
  • An excellent track record of being able to develop machine oriented programs using Microsoft Visual C# and C++.
  • Thorough understanding of UML and the software life cycle.
  • In depth knowledge of the intricacies of system integration.
  • Experience of Robots, Machine Vision and Motion Control would also be an advantage, in particular Kuka, ABB, Cognex and Beckhoff.
  • Experience of programming PLCs using one of the IEC61131-3 languages would be beneficial.
